A Tigard-based company that manages nursing homes and assisted living communities plans to lay off 129 employees starting next month as it exits the skilled nursing business and turns over dozens of Oregon long-term care facilities to other companies.
Avamere Health Services told state labor officials Monday that the layoffs will begin Sept. 1, with additional job cuts planned for Oct. 1 and in the months that follow. The company said it doesn’t yet know the final number because some employees could be hired by the companies taking over the facilities. It also warned that more layoffs are possible if additional facilities change hands.
