A man who was shot in the groin by another dad while picking up his children in the parking lot of the Islamic School of Portland nearly two years ago filed a $50 million lawsuit this week against the school and its associated mosque — claiming that they didn’t take steps to stop the other dad from carrying a gun even though leaders knew that he did.
Michael Zakarneh was shot by the other man, Noureddine Dib, and now walks with a limp, is plagued by nightmares and isn’t expected to be able to work again before he reaches retirement age 20 years from now, according to Zakarneh’s lawsuit.
