STURBRIDGE, Mass. (WWLP) – A Florida man has been arrested after allegedly driving under the influence, crashing into a State Police cruiser in Sturbridge.
Massachusetts State Police stated that on Monday night, a tractor-trailer struck an unoccupied, parked cruiser outside the Sturbridge Barracks. As a result of the crash, the cruiser was pushed onto a curb and into a light pole.
The vehicle then continued to drive over nearby shrubs before circling behind the barracks. Troopers stopped the vehicle and approached the driver, who was observed to have unsteady feet, glassy eyes, and an odor of alcohol on his breath.
The driver was identified as 50-year-old Timothy Dorsey of Pensaola, Florida. He was arrested and charged with:
- Leaving the Scene of Property Damage
- Operating Under the Influence of Liquor
- Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Dorsey was brought to Dudley District Court to be arraigned. No troopers or members of the public were injured during the crash.
