Worcester Walks: Picking up the Rail Trail in W. Boylston

Welcome back to Worcester Walks, and welcome back to the Massachusetts Central Rail Trail, which we saw some of on a Winter Walk a few years back but have not yet explored in its entirety.

This week, we stopped by the rail trail’s West Boylston section, which begins at the northwestern corner of the Wachusett Reservoir and follows the Quinapoxet River westward.

The trail is particularly wide, flat, and comfortable to walk on due to its history as the former site of railroad tracks. After a mile and a half, you’ll arrive at the Springdale Mill site, which we saw on our visit to the rail trail’s Holden portion a few winters ago…
