NYC has just days left to enjoy an 8 p.m. sunset before Daylight Saving Time ends

It may still be summer, but we’re already losing daylight in New York City.

Sunsets have been getting earlier since late June, following the summer solstice on June 21, which is the longest day of the year. After that, daylight begins to gradually decrease each day, according to the Old Farmer’s Almanac.

As August progresses, that change becomes much more noticeable as the sunset occurs earlier each evening. This loss of daylight accelerates through the late summer into early fall due to the Earth’s tilt, as the Northern Hemisphere gradually angles away from the sun, according to the almanac…
