A man walked into a convenience store along Roosevelt Boulevard on July 14 and snatched a loaded gun right out of another customer’s waistband, according to investigators. He then pointed the stolen firearm at the victim and taunted him before running out of the store with two other people. Three weeks later, the suspect still hasn’t been identified, and detectives are turning to the public for help.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office highlighted the case, tracked under CCR#2026-412296, in a Wanted Wednesday post from Jax Sheriff’s Office that asks anyone who recognizes the suspect to come forward. The post reiterates that he ran out of the store with two other people right after pointing the gun at the victim. JSO calls the stolen firearm a risk to the community and is urging the public’s help getting it off the street.
Roosevelt Boulevard, part of U.S. Route 17, is one of the busiest commercial corridors on Jacksonville’s Westside, lined with retail plazas and convenience stores inside JSO’s Patrol Zone 4, according to News4JAX. The stretch sees heavy foot and vehicle traffic day and night, which can make identifying a fast-moving suspect more difficult for investigators relying on witness accounts and video.
A Felony Robbery Case Waiting for an Arrest
Florida law treats what happened inside that store as far more than a simple theft. Taking property from someone through force or intimidation while carrying a firearm is classified as robbery, and doing so while carrying or pointing a gun elevates the charge to a first-degree felony punishable by up to life in prison, according to Online Sunshine, Florida’s official statutes portal.
