(KRON) — Smoke plumes billowing out of raging wildfires in the Pacific Northwest are forecast to drift into the San Francisco Bay over the next 48 hours.
Bay Area Air District officials extended an air quality advisory due through Thursday. “Smoke from wildfires in the Pacific Northwest is expected todrift into the Bay Area on Thursday. Conditions can change rapidly and the amount and location of smoke at ground level is hard to predict. Smoky, hazy skies may be visible, the smell of smoke is possible and air quality may become unhealthy at times,” the air district wrote.
The public can check for real-time smoke pollution levels in their local area with the U.S. EPA’s Fire and Smoke Map.
The district said its team will be closely monitoring air quality throughout the region. Pollutant levels are not expected to exceed 24-hour health standards…
