OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Heavy rainfall impacted the metro and surrounding communities over the past 24 hours. Most metro communities saw between 1-3″ of rain, but a few communities saw more than 3″ of rain in western Iowa.
Focusing on the metro, Eppley Airfield measured 2.86″ of rain in 24 hours! The last time a daily precipitation total reached near this amount was August 2021!
Looking at the past few years, there’s very few times when the daily precipitation amount was more than two inches. Below is a graphic showing the dates of when Omaha reached more than two inches in a day.
The last time we received significant rainfall was mid June so we needed the rainfall.
While the new drought monitor won’t take into account this rainfall since the rain came after the cutoff, next week’s drought monitor will show the impact of the rainfall…
