New Orleans residents on Tuesday slammed the city’s recreation department over years of deferred maintenance at public parks, raising concerns about nonworking bathrooms and grass overgrowth to a board of Mayor Helena Moreno’s appointees.
Despite over $700,000 worth of maintenance projects in the queue, grass overgrowth, choked lagoons and broken restrooms are among a litany of complaints that about 20 residents lodged to the New Orleans Recreation and Development Commission at a public meeting.
