ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — A proposal to transform a former Rockford church into apartments, a restaurant and a banquet hall has advanced through the Rockford City Council approval process.
On Monday, the City Council voted to sustain a recommendation from the Zoning Board of Appeals and approve a Special Use Permit for a planned mixed-use development at 219 S. 2nd St., the site of the former Centennial United Methodist Church. The proposal calls for 10 apartments, a restaurant and a banquet hall within the existing building.
