ROCKFORD — The Chicago-Rockford International Airport has ended its deal with Tough Mudder after a nearly decade of hosting the extreme obstacle course.
The airport decided not to renew its contract with Tough Mudder after last year’s event, according to Zack Oakley, executive director of the airport. The endurance event drew thousands of people to the airport each year, and Oakley said the decision not to renew the contract was in consideration of the effect the event had on the airport’s other tenants.
The Tough Mudder first came to the airport in 2016 as part of a four-year contract. Tough Mudder ran here for nine years with a one-year hiatus during the pandemic in 2020. Oakley said it had one-year contracts with options to renew over the past several years…
