SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — Happy Wednesday, Utah! Our Wednesday will feature hazy sunshine and seasonable temperatures across most of northern Utah.
Today’s weather: Reduced air quality
Daytime highs will only climb into the mid 90s for the Wasatch Front. Areas of smoke and haze from Pacific Northwest wildfires will continue to create reduced air quality levels and visibility issues for most of north and central Utah. An elevated fire danger exists across northeastern Utah Wednesday afternoon.
Areas of south and southeast Utah will continue with the blazing heat Wednesday afternoon. Daytime highs across the south will be between 100°-108° for many areas.
Tomorrow’s weather: Heat dome
The heat dome begins to shift back over the region Thursday into the weekend. This will bring a return to the significant heat across most of Utah. Daytime highs will warm back into the lower 100s for northern Utah Thursday through the weekend. Highs climb in the 105-110°+ range this weekend across far southern Utah.

Temperatures will warm near 100° along the Wasatch Front Thursday afternoon, then expect temperatures to climb between 101°- 105° through this upcoming weekend. Daytime high temperatures will flirt with if not exceed record levels Friday, Saturday, and possibly Sunday in Salt Lake City.
Due to the expected warm afternoon temperatures and little cooling relief expected during the overnights, heat alerts have been issued for many Utah valley locations.
Extreme heat warning
An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect from 12PM Thursday through 9PM Saturday for areas of Lower Washington County, Glen Canyon, and Zion Canyon areas in far southern Utah. High temperatures could exceed 110° in these areas this weekend…
