Eugene police plan Aug. 19 multiagency enforcement on River Road safety issues

EUGENE, Ore. — With pedestrian crashes and dangerous driving continuing to be a concern along River Road, Eugene police are planning a multi-agency enforcement effort later this month aimed at improving safety for both drivers and people on foot.

The Eugene Police Department said a multi-jurisdictional team will conduct focused enforcement in the River Road area on Aug. 19. The effort is intended to address ongoing vehicle and pedestrian safety issues and pedestrian crashes in the corridor.

Eugene Police Traffic Safety Unit officers have recently been focusing on River Road, and on Aug. 19 they will be joined by additional patrol officers and special units working together to target speeding, distracted driving and other unsafe behavior, police said…
