Golf review: does newly-renovated Cedar Irons in NE Tacoma live up to hype?

I’m not good enough at golf to pass up a chance to swing for the fences on a drivable Par 4. So when I stepped up to the 11th hole at Cedar Irons last Friday afternoon and could see part of the green on the 276-yard hole from the tee box, the thought of laying up and playing smart never crossed my mind.

I pulled the driver out of my bag, swung true and the shot was pure, clearing the tree line on the right side. I had no doubt it had the distance, but it wasn’t until I rounded the fairway’s corner that I saw the little white dot on the green, 10 feet or so from the pin…
