In the latest warning to landlords everywhere, a Portland-area mom has filed a $3 million lawsuit against her apartment complex after her 7-year-old daughter leaned against a screen on a warm spring day and plummeted three stories to the ground, cracking her skull and suffering brain damage.
An attorney for Lorrain Pomykala faults property managers and owners of the Rivergreen Apartments in Gladstone for failing to install a $5 device that would have stopped the girl’s bedroom window from opening more than a few inches and catastrophically changing the girl’s life.
