Target shoplifting incident leads to arrest of Ohio woman in West Virginia

MARTINSBURG, WV (WVNS) – An Ohio woman was arrested and charged in connection to an alleged shoplifting incident at a Target in West Virginia.

According to a press release from the West Virginia State Police, 37-year-old Shanelle Grimes of Canton, Ohio, was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny, Possession of Stolen Property, Transporting Stolen Property into the State, and Providing False Information. The arrest and charges stem from a shoplifting complaint on August 4, 2026 at a Target store that is located on Retail Commons Parkway in Martinsburg, WV.

North Carolina man sentenced for drug trafficking in West Virginia

The press release stated that Trooper J.M. Northcraft and TFC B.F. Gorondy responded to the complaint. Once at the store, Target Asset Protection personnel informed the troopers that approximately $1,200 worth of merchandise was suspected to be stolen by Grimes, who was subsequently arrested. She is being held at Eastern Regional Jail after being arraigned before a magistrate. Her bond was set at $20,000.
