Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine is urging Buc-ee’s to abandon its trademark lawsuit against a small convenience store in Beavercreek, calling the legal fight “ridiculous” and saying the Texas-based travel center chain is damaging the goodwill it has built with Ohio customers.
Speaking with reporters Wednesday, DeWine said he does not believe customers would confuse the cartoon beaver used by Beaver’s Mini Mart with Buc-ee’s well-known mascot. The governor said the logos are distinct enough that the lawsuit should not move forward.
“I don’t think anybody looks at that and thinks, ‘Oh, that’s the beaver of Buc-ee’s,’” DeWine said. “They just ought to dismiss this case.”…
