Man accused of DUI, reckless driving that caused deadly West Mifflin crash

A man is accused of driving under the influence and causing a deadly crash in West Mifflin.

Keith Stephen Scherba Jr., 40, of Pittsburgh, is facing a long list of charges, including homicide by vehicle while DUI, online court records show.

The July 11 crash at the intersection of Buttermilk Hollow and Lebanon Church roads claimed the life of 60-year-old Shelly Hunter, a mother and patient care technician at Jefferson Hospital.

According to the criminal complaint, police say Scherba stole a Chevrolet truck with a trailer attached from Crews Control LLC in Oakland and drove recklessly, hitting a vehicle on the Birmingham Bridge…
