Off-duty NYPD officer accused of driving drunk with 3 kids in car

GREENPORT, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Staten Island man is facing multiple charges in Columbia County after New York State Police said he was driving drunk with three children in his car. It happened just before 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on Route 23 in the town of Greenport.

Troopers were called for a reported property-damage crash involving a Volkswagen that had left the scene. The vehicle was later found with front-end damage near 120 County Route 31 in Greenport.

Police said the driver, identified as 38-year-old Anthony Guglielmo, showed signs of intoxication. He was taken into custody and refused a chemical breath test. Three children, ages 5, 6, and 7, were also in the vehicle at the time of the crash. They were uninjured and released to a third party.

Guglielmo, a member of the New York City Police Department, was off-duty at the time of the crash. He is facing the following charges:

  • Three counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger (Leandra’s Law), class E felonies
  • Three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, class A misdemeanors
  • Driving While Intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor
  • Reckless Driving, an unclassified misdemeanor

He was arraigned in the Town of Livingston Court and released. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Greenport Court on August 31…
