Columbia City Council has approved the assessment of Vista’s very own Business Improvement District (BID), a plan designed to improve cleanliness and safety in one of the city’s economic and entertainment hubs.
The motion was approved unanimously, minus one member who abstained from voting, and even received a letter of support from the University of South Carolina’s (USC) Development Foundation.
“I have witnessed the successful transformation of Columbia’s Main Street over the past twenty years and I attribute much of the economic growth and vitality of Main Street to the BID that was created in 2001. … It is my desire for the Vista to achieve the same growth and success that Main Street has experienced, and I strongly believe that the creation of a BID will be an integral part of that success,” the letter read…
