The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office brought scam prevention education and public safety information to older adults during a recent program at the Milford Senior Center on North Bow Street.
The event featured Worcester County Sheriff Lew Evangelidis and members of his office’s Community Outreach Team, speaking about emerging scams targeting seniors, according to a community announcement. The presentation focused on phone, email, text message and mail scams, along with strategies for protecting personal and financial information.
“If someone contacts you asking for money or personal information, and you didn’t contact them, that is a red flag,” Evangelidis said in a statement. “Staying cautious and thinking twice before sharing information online can make all the difference.”…
