The heat wave continues with triple digits likely through the weekend. While it will be hot in Reno, it will be even hotter in the Basin and Range in places like Fallon and Lovelock. Overnight lows will be stay above average as well.
Highs on Friday will be around 100 degrees, with lows in the mid 60’s. Some clouds will move in on Friday, but not enough to really cool us down. This area of high pressure is very stubborn. The clouds will also keep temperature warm for our area Saturday morning. Some spots could even be as warm as 70 degrees.
The heat risk for Reno is moderate to major, with a higher risk in Sparks than west Reno. The heat risk formula takes into consideration highs, lows, and averages.
Places like Fallon and Lovelock could make it to 105 degrees this weekend. For Reno the heat risk is major through Saturday, then turning moderate through Tuesday, and minor on Wednesday.
Temperatures will also stay around 90 degrees in South Tahoe, which is above average for the lake. As a result, the heat risk for South Tahoe is moderate through Sunday, then turning minor through Wednesday. It will be cool in the Sierra at night, but hot during the day.
Carson City is similar with highs staying around 100 degrees. The risk there goes from moderate on Thursday, to major Friday and Saturday, then turning moderate again Sunday through Wednesday…
