Portland City Council moves closer on ‘no turn on red’ ordinance

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Portland City Council is moving forward with new rules banning right turns on red lights.

Council on Thursday passed an ordinance to second reading, directing the city’s transportation bureau to evaluate no-turn-on-red restrictions at the most dangerous signalized intersections citywide.

Officials say these high-crash spots make up just 8% of Portland streets but account for 62% of traffic deaths…
