MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) – Weather concerns and strict safety protocols have forced Main Street Murfreesboro to postpone the Friday Night Live concert scheduled for August 7th, 2026, on the Historic Downtown Public Square.
Organizers made the decision at 10:00 a.m. Thursday to cancel the show featuring the band Third Party Thieves. Production crews needed to work all day Friday to build the stage and install sound equipment, but forecasts showed a 40 to 50 percent chance of thunderstorms throughout the afternoon. Lightning protocols require crew members to stop work for one hour every time lightning strikes, creating significant delay risks.
Financial and contractual deadlines also forced an early decision. The stage company begins loading equipment before noon on Thursday, at which point Main Street Murfreesboro becomes financially liable for the costs regardless of later weather cancellations.
