NEW YORK (PIX11) — A busy New York City subway station in desperate need of a refresh will finally get one, Governor Kathy Hochul announced Friday.
The MTA is seeking contractors who will design, construct, and rehabilitate the Chambers Street station on the J and Z lines. The agency is looking to completely restore the historic station, including the architectural finishes.

“Chambers Street has stood for decades as a living monument of generations of underinvestment in our transit system, now, thanks to funding from congestion pricing, that finally changes,” said Hochul.
The 113-year-old station is on the National Register of Historic Places and serves over 18,000 riders on an average weekday, according to the MTA…
