SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) – City crews have demolished the Shamrock Court Motel, a property that once served travelers along Route 66 in Springfield.
The city began demolition last week after an emergency inspection found the building was not structurally sound.
What inspectors found
Building Development Services Director Martin Gugel said the inspection revealed a range of structural problems throughout the property.
“We were noticing a lot of structural issues, issues with the roof ceiling, issues with the floors, missing floor joists, walls that would move — which again, all those things told us that just boarding up the buildings was not going to be sufficient, because in the act of just trying to board that up, again, the exterior walls were moving,” Gugel said…
