EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – An Evansville man is behind bars after police say two people were injured in a cane attack at a local motel on Saturday afternoon.
Shawn Finch, 56, is facing charges of felony battery with a deadly weapon and possession of marijuana.
According to an arrest affidavit, Evansville Police officers responded to an assault at the Esquire Inn on Old Business 41 on Saturday afternoon. Witnesses told police that Finch became aggressive after a dispute broke out inside a motel room.
Investigators say Finch grabbed a “metal type” walking cane and struck a victim in the face. When the victim attempted to block a second strike to the head, Finch allegedly struck her forearm. A second victim also sustained a laceration to her wrist during the altercation. Officers on scene recovered the cane, which was broken into three pieces…
