Afternoon Heat Meets Sudden Storm Threat
Sunday will stay sunny through late morning before a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms develops after 2 p.m. The National Weather Service Las Vegas says brief downpours and gusty winds will be the main concerns, with southeast winds reaching 12 mph and gusts up to 20 mph.
Storm chances are not high enough to count on meaningful rain across the entire valley, and any showers could be short-lived. But thunderstorms can produce abrupt wind shifts, blowing dust and isolated heavy rain, so outdoor plans may need a backup plan once the afternoon heating peaks.
Little Relief After Dark
Sunday night will remain partly cloudy with a low around 90 degrees, and temperatures could rise slightly overnight instead of offering a real cooldown. That warm nighttime pattern is especially tough on people without reliable air conditioning, outdoor workers and anyone spending extended time outside.
Monday will bring another sunny and dangerously hot day, with a high near 111 degrees and heat index values reaching roughly 106. The Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through 8 p.m. Monday, covering the Las Vegas Valley and other parts of Southern Nevada.
