FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (7News) — Drivers across Fairfax County can expect stepped-up traffic enforcement for the next week as police launch the third round of the “Road Shark” program, an initiative aimed at cracking down on aggressive and dangerous driving.
“Our goal for this program is to eliminate the road sharks from our roadways,” Second Lt. Tara Gerhard with the Traffic Safety Services section of Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) told 7News. “And to be clear, a road shark is an aggressive driver. Somebody who is running a red light, unsafe lane changes, driving while intoxicated, things like that, and those drivers pose a serious threat to our roadways.”
During the seven-day enforcement period, officers will be out 24/7 in every nook and cranny of the county to catch dangerous driving behaviors in an effort to reduce deadly and serious injuries…
