MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Temperatures are starting in the mid-70s this morning and will climb back into the 90s this afternoon. It’s going to be an extremely hot week, but today is technically the most manageable day when it comes to the heat. Highs at the beaches will be around 90 degrees, with heat index values up to 104. Inland areas will reach the mid-90s, with feels-like temperatures topping 100 degrees.
The heat intensifies beginning tomorrow as the Bermuda High strengthens over the Southeast. Temperatures along the coast will climb into the low to mid-90s for the rest of the week, while inland communities will see highs between 96 and 99 degrees, with even higher heat index values.
Tuesday and Wednesday look especially oppressive, with heat index values ranging from 105 to 109 degrees. Expect Heat Advisories to be issued for the next couple of days.
