Dear D Magazine,
Help! Can you look into DISD’s plans for tech? Since sending my kid to a DISD magnet middle school, I’ve been bewildered by the amount of time they spend on Chromebooks. Pretty much all their schoolwork is done on screens, even some book reading. Between school, phones, and TV, these kids have screens in their faces almost every waking hour. But it’s the school screens that really burn my bacon. I have a growing suspicion that these digital learning platforms are not only making our kids dumber, they are making our teachers lazier. Maybe it’s my generation, but I pine for the days of paper and pencil. —Analog Mommy
