Sparks’ Kayden Hulet wins silver medal in hammer throw at U20 World Championships

A personal-best throw from Northern Nevada native Kayden Hulet earned him a silver medal at the under-20 World Championships.

Hulet, who graduated from Debbie Smith High this spring, recorded a toss of 77.55 meters in the hammer throw to finish second in the prestigious World Athletics Championships, which were held at Oregon’s Hayward Field.

Hulet’s sixth and final throw sailed 77.55 meters, which is the second-best throw in U.S. history for a U20 athlete. Hulet became the first American to earn silver in the U20 men’s hammer throw since 2008…
