Toddler drowned in lake near Brighton, sheriff’s office says

GENOA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLNS) — A toddler drowned in a lake near Brighton Saturday, deputies say.

The 4-year-old, a non-verbal autistic girl, is believed to have left home through a broken screen door, the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office said in a release. Deputies were sent to the area of Grand Beach Lake in Genoa Township around 6:15 p.m. Saturday to search for the child, who had been missing for an unknown amount of time.

Multiple agencies were called in to help with the search, along with drones, a helicopter and a canine. After about an hour and a half, searchers found the child in about 4 feet of water…
