URI Student Who “Pranked” Classmate by Writing on Their Face Files Lawsuit to Fight University’s Disciplinary Action
A student at the University of Rhode Island (URI) has filed a federal lawsuit against the university for disciplinary actions against him — after he drew on another student’s face as a prank.
In a 24-page complaint filed in United States District Court on August 8, URI student Reid Westergren — a New Hampshire native — alleges his federal due process rights were violated when URI issued a no-contact order with the student Westergren drew on, and moved Westergren to new housing.
According to Westergren, who is being represented by attorney Kensley Barrett, URI did not allow him to appeal its decision, leading to the legal action, which includes URI administrators Daniel Graney, Kristin Ridge, and Katelynn Wright as defendants…
