Longtime District Attorney Michael Morrissey is not seeking reelection after years of scrutiny over his office’s handling of the controversial and highly publicized Karen Read and Sandra Birchmore cases. The fallout has loomed over the campaign to replace him as candidates compete to convince voters in Brookline and 27 other communities that they can restore trust in the embattled office.
