AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – The Amarillo Police Department asked community members to avoid the area of the 2000 block of Paramount Boulevard on Tuesday morning, amid an agency response to a “barricaded subject, possibly armed.”

The police department said officers and SWAT team members were at the scene of a motel in the 2000 block of Paramount Boulevard as of 9:30 a.m., working to communicate with a “possibly armed” person. Officials asked community members to avoid the area.
“We will provide updates when the event has been cleared,” said the department in an advisory announcement. “We appreciate the community cooperation in this ongoing situation.”
