SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Salvation Army of Syracuse announced an emergency fundraising campaign in response to a funding cut of more than $350,000.
The Salvation Army is now seeking the community’s help. Neighbors, businesses and community groups are encouraged to donate to the Salvation Army at this link. Donations can also be mailed to 677 S. Salina St. in Syracuse, N.Y. 13202.
The Salvation Army said donations will help:
- The Emergency Family Shelter for families and individuals experiencing homelessness
- Early childhood education and safe, supportive classrooms
- Counseling services that help keep families together
- Hot meals and companionship for seniors
- Continued stability for thousands of neighbors with nowhere else to turn
The United Way made an uneasy decision to cut funding to the Salvation Army and other nonprofit organizations after its revenue had declined.
