NJ Man Defies Odds to Finish 100-Mile Walk for Girl With Cancer After Hitting a Bump in the Road in Herkimer

UTICA, N.Y. — A New Jersey man is walking 100 miles to support a 9-year-old Gloversville girl named Jazzy who is fighting cancer.

James Hickey began his walk in June, starting in Johnstown and planning to finish in Syracuse. Three days into his journey, he stopped for the night in Herkimer and became violently ill.

Hickey called for an ambulance and was taken to Little Falls Hospital, where doctors told him he had suffered a stroke. That was on Father’s Day…
