A 13-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with a fatal shooting on San Antonio’s West Side more than a year ago, one that left a 20-year-old man dead after his car crashed into a home. The boy was just 12 years old at the time of the June 2025 killing, and he appeared in juvenile court this week for an initial detention hearing before a judge ordered him held until his next court date later this month.
The victim, identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office as Marcus Rene Nolf Estrada, 20, died from gunshot wounds in a case the office ruled a homicide. According to KSAT, police responded to a shooting call around 8:30 p.m. on June 9, 2025, in the 300 block of Otter Drive, where officers found Nolf Estrada in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that had crashed into a home. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
San Antonio police have confirmed the 13-year-old is the only person arrested so far in the case, and the investigation remains active. Three suspects were seen fleeing the scene on foot from the 300 block of Otter Drive on the night of the shooting, though they were not found during the initial search, the station’s report notes.
