State and county officials are monitoring a storm cluster, currently called CP93, about 1050 miles off the coast of Hawaiʻi Island that may turn into a tropical cyclone.
The cluster currently consists of disorganized thunderstorms and rain. However, the National Hurricane Center forecast on Tuesday afternoon that the system had a 90% chance of forming into a tropical cyclone over the next 48 hours.
If the state finds itself in the path of a cyclone, the earliest impact would likely be Friday night.
