HONOLULU (KHON2) — Officials are already moving into prep mode from the Big Island to Kauai as a weather system is expected to impact the Islands.
Hawaii County is already treating the system as a real threat, even though it is still more than 1,000 miles away. Mayor Kimo Alameda said the uncertainty is exactly why they are staging various response scenarios.
“We don’t know how these weather patterns play out. Sometimes it phases out, and sometimes it’s just like with the Kona Low it hits us hard, and then we don’t know what part of the island it’s going to hit right now. I mean, we’re making some guesses. So until we know for sure, we’ll put out the necessary precautions,” Alameda said…
