Mother charged with criminally negligent homicide in DWI crash that killed 3-year-old

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A second arrest was made in an investigation into a DWI crash that took the life of a young girl.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Syracuse City Court, 27-year-old Nathalie Alejandro, the mother of Yasmeen Shaaf, 3, was charged with criminally negligent homicide for the overnight July 31 crash in Syracuse.

The complaint said Alejandro put her children, including a 7-year-old boy who was hospitalized after the crash, in danger. The complaint stated that Alejandro knew Jazmine U. Vann, 25, of Syracuse, was impaired by alcohol before driving and did nothing to stop her…
