With the top floor of the 515 Walnut Tower recently completed, work is continuing to finish the installation of major components on the roof before the tower crane is dismantled, said Andy Beal, co-owner of Beal Derkenne Construction, the company building the residential high-rise in downtown Des Moines.
Construction on the building, the tallest in Des Moines since 801 Grand was built in 1991, continues on pace for completion in spring 2027. Developer Joe Teeling is working with Beal Derkenne Construction on the project.
When completed, the $148 million project will have 390 apartments, including studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units, a fitness center, coffee shop and a rooftop terrace with both open-air and enclosed areas…
