A man from Springfield faces charges in Baxter County for cashing altered checks.

35-year-old Willie Thomas Clemmer Jr. is charged with felony forgery. Clemmer was arrested earlier this year on similar charges in Ozark and Douglas Counties. Last week, he was sentenced to ten years in the Missouri Department of Corrections but was given a suspended execution of sentence, meaning the jail time is put on hold, and was sentenced to five years of supervised probation. Clemmer allegedly cashed three checks that appeared to be from Cloud Nine Ranch on April 22 at Century Bank locations in the three cities. He started in Ava, where he cashed a check for $2,878. Clemmer then traveled to Theodosia and cashed a check for $2,978. He then headed to the Mountain Home Century Bank branch and cashed a check for $3,378. He is being held in Baxter County Detention Center with bond set at $5,000
