Smash burger restaurant Black Bird Burger opened its doors to the Wichita public a week ago — but owner Sebastian Gordon intended it to be a soft opening, during which owners request customer patience while staff members learn their new jobs.
The response was enthusiastic, and there were sometimes long waits. Gordon decided to close the restaurant on Sunday and Monday to “reset, reorganize and restock.”
Black Bird Burger restaurant is back open now at 5510 E. Central, but Gordon is extending the soft opening period, partially because he needs to hire more staff, he said this week.
Eventually, the restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and it will be able to serve customers who want to dine-in or utilize the drive-through. For now, though, the restaurant is offering only dine-in and carry out. The drive-through likely won’t be open until later this week or next week, he said, and he’ll likely close the restaurant for a reset this coming Monday as well…
