RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – The Bug Fire is threatening communities in the North Valleys area of Reno, including Lemmon Valley, where residents are watching the blaze advance toward their neighborhoods and preparing to leave if conditions worsen.
Residents prepare as fire moves closer
Denise Ross said she watched smoke from her front yard Sunday afternoon as the fire crept toward the area.
“Last night I was terrified. I thought it was going to go up and it kept getting closer and closer and closer and we could see puffs of smoke on the hill like structures, cause of the change in smoke. But if we have to we will leave,” Ross said.
Ross and her son have set up a generator and placed hoses around their home. She said her garden may go dry as limited power restricts how much water she can pull from her well.
Longtime resident fears wind shift
