CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Ardrey Kell High School is seeking another principal after Dr. Susan Wills submitted her retirement from the position this year.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools says Wills, formerly Susan Nichols, is moving to England to join her husband across the pond. Her retirement will take effect Nov. 1, after being named principal of the Ballantyne-area school in June 2025.

“While my time at Ardrey Kell High School has been brief, it has been incredibly meaningful,” Wills said in a letter to the school community. “From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed by a school community that cares deeply about its students, and is committed to excellence. It has been a privilege to work alongside our talented staff, support all of our students, and partner with you in helping every student succeed.”
Wills detailed how she and her husband have been living in separate nations for the last three years, and now that they are married, “can begin our life together in one place.”…
