Very rarely will I go to a highly reviewed and extremely hyped pizza place and opt for a sandwich, but when it came to my first visit to Pizzeria Leopold’s recently opened Colorado Springs location, I did just that and after doing so, I can’t wait to do it again.
Before digging into the sandwiches I scarfed down during my trip to their spot in the Old Colorado City neighborhood, I must address the pizza first. I tried the restaurant out with a group of several friends and we split roughly half and half between ordering sandwiches and personal pizzas – everyone who went for the pizza seemed to agree that this was a 10 out of 10 decision. Meanwhile, everyone who went for a sandwich seemed to feel the same. In other words, it sounds like you can’t go wrong with any pick at Pizzeria Leopold. It’s also worth noting that Pizzeria Leopold’s Lakewood location was voted as home to the best pizza in the Mile High City in 2025 in a Denver Gazette bracket that included 32 local spots.
That’s enough about the pizza though – I’ll probably tack that onto my order during the upcoming return trip to Pizzeria Leopold that I’ve already got planned and I’ll tell you more about my personal take on it after that. Let’s talk sandwiches…
