Jackson budget talks: Fire chief wants more money for hiring; has identified outside funds for building upgrades

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Jackson Fire Chief RaSean Thomas says he needs an additional $1.7 million to hire new firefighters, to help stave off attrition and improve the city’s fire rating.

Budget talks continued Thursday, with the City Council’s Finance Committee hearing from Jackson’s three largest departments: fire, police, and public works.
