ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)– An Albany man has been sentenced to over eight years in federal prison for his involvement in a cross-country marijuana and tetrahydrocannabinols (THC) trafficking scheme. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Deandre Caldwell was charged alongside 25 other defendants.

He previously pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute and possessing with intent to distribute marijuana and tetrahydrocannabinols (THC) and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Officials said Caldwell admitted to being part of the organization that cultivated large amounts of marijuana and shipped them from California to the Capital Region. His part, however, was to receive the packages at this Hudson Avenue apartment and sell the weed and THC edibiles out of a “knock spot” in Albany.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, investigators searched his apartment in June 2022 and reported finding marijuana, THC edibles, scales, shipping boxes and almost $16,000 in cash.
